EDF Power Solutions delivers fourth on-site solar project for Pilgrim's Europe
SAS Energy, EDF power solutions’ commercial and industrial solar division, is celebrating the completion of the latest solar project that the organisation is developing for Pilgrim’s Europe.
Pilgrim’s Europe is one of Europe’s largest food companies, making quality food sustainably in partnership with local farmers through its poultry, pork, and lamb supply chains.
The completion of the solar project at Pilgrim’s Bromborough facility in the Wirral, which has seen 744 solar PV modules fitted to the roof, marks a major milestone in the ongoing partnership between the two organisations.
The Bromborough project is one of multiple solar projects that have been delivered, with three projects already completed at facilities in Corsham, Redruth and Andover. A mixture of rooftop and ground mount solar projects have been built or are planned, with each scheme tailored and designed to maximise the benefits at each location.
The projects enable Pilgrim’s Europe to greatly reduce the carbon emissions associated with its energy usage and provide long-term protection from price volatility, benefitting both the business and the environment. Together, the installations are a significant step for Pilgrim’s Europe and form one part of their Sustainability Strategy, which sets out an ambitious roadmap across all aspects of the business.
Josephine Blundy, Director of Sustainability at Pilgrim’s Europe, said: “Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, underpinning our entire business strategy. Many of our sites are already centres of operational excellence, helping us to innovate and optimise our sustainable food production. The four on-site solar installations with EDF Power Solutions represent a huge investment to help us further reduce our carbon footprint and will play a key role in achieving our ambitious goals.”
Deanna Greenhalgh, Director of Development at SAS Energy, EDF Renewables’ commercial and industrial solar division, said: "We’re proud to celebrate the successful completion of our fourth project with Pilgrim’s Europe, a true testament to the strength of our partnership. Collaborating with organisations that share our vision for a clean, renewable energy future is at the heart of what we do. This milestone not only reflects what we’ve achieved together so far but also sets the foundation for many more impactful projects in the years ahead. Here’s to continued success and many more projects like this one. Congratulations to the team for their outstanding work in bringing this project to life and we look forward to strengthening our ongoing partnership with Pilgrims Europe.”
Raghav Singh, Director of Large Business at EDF Business Solutions, said: “As Britain’s biggest supplier of zero-carbon electricity, we’re delighted to continue our long-term partnership with Pilgrim’s UK. Having multiple energy solution partners within EDF Group gives us the ability to support customers like Pilgrims with their bespoke sustainability strategies. With the rollout of onsite solar PV, Pilgrim’s UK will make a significant step toward reducing its scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions and achieving its goal of net zero by 2040.”
